Martin Nolan - Demand a Real Alternative in 2012
The two party system in this country is broken.
While the leaders of both parties and the news media pay lip service to
the idea that Democrats and Republicans are fundamentally different, it
has become increasingly clear to even the most casual observer that the
party lines are blurry at best. What is becoming obvious to you and to
anyone paying attention is that neither major party is willing or able
to represent the interests of the average American. Now is the time to
stand up and reclaim the power that is rightfully ours. We need to
start thinking about the future of this country and of this world.
The current crop of politicians and their cronies lie to you every day. They conceal how they are spending your money, their secret police tap your phones, and they take what's yours, by coercion and force if necessary. When they talk about spreading freedom and democracy, they really mean exerting control. When they talk about security, they mean tightening the stranglehold they have on their own power. When they talk about economic growth, they mean filling the coffers of their friends and relatives. When they talk about justice, they mean preserving the status quo. They call you a citizen, but treat you like a subject.
The time to take action is now. Supreme political authority derives from the People, not the government. They can only take what you let them take, but soon it will be too late to get back the power that belongs to us.
As an independent candidate for the presidency in 2012, I hope to return the people of this nation to a state of being governed rather than being ruled.
